Our mission is a collaborative effort between members of the Foreside Community Church and the Falmouth Congregational Church, and other volunteers in the Southern Maine Community to provide our services, financial and emotional support for the people of Honduras. Our Churches are United Church of Christ (UCC) churches located in Falmouth, Maine.

Our activities consist of planning, fundraising, and ultimately traveling to Honduras to provide medical and infrastructure construction services for one week, once every two years. During our visits and time between, we hope to nurture personal connections that transcend time, distance and the individual circumstances of our lives.

Our most recent trip in February, 2011 was to El Triunfo, located in southern Honduras near the border between Honduras and Nicaragua. We traveled to this same area in 2008, and hope to return again in 2013. Our group, ranging in age from teen to retired, typically consists of 20-25 members, split into two teams.

The medical team consists of 3-4 doctors, nurse practicioners, nurses and support personnel. In a typical week we are able to see and provide basic care and medicine to 600-700 patients.

The construction team consists of about a dozen enthusiastic members that contribute their muscles and persperation to building infrastructure that provides benefit to the daily lives of the Hondurans throughout the year. The 2008 project was to assist in the reconstruction of a bridge that was washed out in a prior rainy season.

The last group is perhaps the most important, those that do not travel, and yet support the groups efforts by contributing to the planning and/or fundraising efforts throughout the years.

Our 2011 project involved building a one-room schoolhouse that will serve as a kindergarten classroom in the village of Piedra Parada (Standing Rock), near El Triunfo. See our "Photos" section for images of the construction project.
